IdeasbyNetZero% means going further, faster for a sustainable future

Ideasbynet have been a lone voice in the promotional gift sector, by promoting the need for environmentally neutral products and for the elimination of wasteful marketing materials since 2008.

Our eco goal is to ensure 100% of the branded products we supply are environmentally balanced and have minimal impact to the biosphere. Governments have set carbon zero target for 2050. We aim to set the standard by getting to carbon zero in the branded merch industry much sooner. We have a ‘planet positive plan’ to make this happen. We call this initiative IdeasbyNetZero . It encompasses action in a range of areas detailed below.

Forests not flyers...An initiative we started in 2008

The aim is to persuade the promotional gift sector to un-couple from the tactic of marketing via unwanted promotional gift catalogues and flyers.

It is estimated that in the UK, 1 million glossy brochures are mailed annually by the promotional gift industry. The average brochure is heavy and around 400 pages thick... adding up to approximately 4,800 tonnes of paper. Viewed another way, it’s 12,500 trees wantonly felled every year for little result.(source http://www.10thousandtrees.org/detailed-calculator/) The figure is probably ten fold that if you factor in the EU countries. If that is not bad enough, imagine the carbon footprint moving tons of paper around en masse.

It is pleasing that organisations are increasingly reluctant to deal with 'catalogue dependent' businesses.

To reassure you, IdeasbyNetZero means we will never print or mail out branded gift catalogues and flyers.

Forests not flights

It is widely accepted aviation is a significant contributor to global C02 emissions. Ideasbynet have ZERO aviation usage. IdeasbyNetZero means international trade fairs and events such as ASI (USA),PSI (Germany),SGP Fair (Singapore), are accessed on a virtual basis only. Additionally, directors and senior managers are air-mile minimisers... since 2010.

Subtle gains by ending over-packaging

A further goal of IdeasbyNetZero is to reduce landfill by minimising the amount of packaging used in the transit of promotional products. Wherever practicable we use dimensionally smaller packages and replace bubble wrap with sustainable raw materials such as shredded cardboard.

IdeasbyNet Zero means eco friendly options with every quotation

To save your valuable time, with every promotional merchandise quotation we prepare, we’ll also use our industry knowledge to send you another version showing broadly similar products but they will all be eco-friendly .

When you go-green, everyone will know about it

Give a branded item that has genuine eco benefits, it would be nice if the person receiving it knew about them. Now as part of our IdeasbyNetZero they will. You have the option to have the appropriate benefit printed onto every product. If you’ve taken the green promo option, we want everyone to know and be impressed.

How eco friendly are the green promotional items you are buying?
Promosynthesis has the answer

How environmentally friendly are the eco promotional products you are buying? Which raw materials were involved in manufacturing, and where do they come from? How did the goods get transported? Via road, rail, or air?

Now you can buy eco promotional merch in total confidence because each one carries an official Promosynthesis rating. This measures the environmental impact of each product, awards a score and shows it prominently on-line as well as on quotations.

Branded merch stays around longer than you’d think. Another tick in the ‘green box’

Branded merchandise is popular with marketers and businesses because it stays around for ages. It out-lasts most other forms of media largely because each item fulfils a practical purpose. It is the very opposite of single use...which is good for the planet. Long life cycles are better than frequent recycling.

Ethical sourcing and manufacturing

IdeasbyNetZero means we prioritise partnering with suppliers who have environmental management at the heart of their quality management systems. They create promotional merchandise in a way that has minimum impact to the delicate balance of the biosphere. Additionally, wherever possible they will use ethically sourced materials like organic cotton, reclaimed-recycled plastics, fabrics and compostable paper.

Prioritising the green printing of promotional products

Increasing, greener printing technologies using eco-secure soy or water based inks are utilised to eliminate the use of petroleum based inks. Because of the wide range of branded items we offer , each with different substrates, not all orders can be fulfilled using green printing techniques, however, it is our ambition to for this figure to be close to 100% in the near future.
